October 2019 Update: Our West Belfast tour has stopped running after it’s summer season and will resume in Spring 2020.
Running just once per week every Monday at 2.00pm, our West Belfast walking tour visits the murals and memorial gardens of the communities on the Falls Road and Shankill Road, and the infamous peaceline which separates them.
Over 2 miles and 2.5 hours you will learn how the conflict we know as ‘the Troubles’ began, how it unfolded over the next 30 years and affected the communities you will visit, what it was like to live here and how it’s legacy continues to affect the city and its people. The tour also explains the path to peace, and the challenges that still lie ahead of us.
As with our city centre ‘A History of Terror’ tour, we guarantee a unique and unbiased historical experience. Our guides are non-partisan and focus on an honest, accurate and objective narrative. They love to engage with guests and will take the time to answer all your questions!
If you’ve taken our city centre tour and want to learn more then this is the tour for you!
The tour runs is still available as a private / study tour for Schools and University Groups during the winter season. Detailed information can be found on the Tour Schedule page.
Our starting point is Divis Tower, on the Falls Road. Our guide will be clearly identifiable by their black tour jacket or t-shirt with our logo on the left breast. The tour covers 2 miles and lasts 2 to 2.5 hours. It finishes in Royal Avenue in Belfast City Centre, just a couple of minutes walk from City Hall.
The tour is entirely wheelchair friendly, with no steps at any point, however the first section of the tour does involve travelling up the Falls Road which is on a slight incline.
