Our team of qualified expert guides will provide your students with accurate, insightful and detailed accounts and explanations of important sites and events in the city, allowing them to observe, analyse and understand what makes Belfast and it’s people quite so unique.
Together with the rich and detailed narrative of the guides, image files are also used throughout the tour to stimulate the student’s imagination and more easily contrast the past with the present.
Our guides will encourage your students to engage with them, ask questions and ultimately they will leave with a much deeper understanding and appreciation of the city, it’s people and its past.
All the tours are 2 miles or less and are between 2 hours and 2 hours 30 minutes. They can also be tailored or customised to suit the time available and specific interests of each group.
The West Belfast tour is a firm favourite of school groups in particular as it is more ‘visual’ compared to the ‘A History of Terror’ tour.
With educators in our team we can also create bespoke tours with specific emphasis on a wide range of topics; Politics, British & Irish History, Peace & Reconciliation Studies, Law, Psychology, English Literature, Human Rights, are just a few typical examples.
All tours can be tailored to suit each group’s particular area of study and level of prior knowledge of our history. Just let us know the subjects you want us to focus on and we will build them into your tour.
Tours can be started at any time to suit your itinerary and the length of the tour can be varied to meet your schedule.
High quality Vox audio systems are used on all tours to guarantee an exceptional tour experience for all students.
Our study tours are also available in Spanish.
Here’s just a few reviews from study groups we have worked with:
“Thanks again for such an incredible tour – what a fantastic way to kick start a tour of Europe; truly thought provoking, balanced and incredibly accessible while perfectly detailed.”
“The group LOVED the tours arranged by yourselves. Our students are inquisitive learners and reflective discussions revealed the amount of information they had gained during our 2 days. They still cannot stop talking about it. Great hit and just what a Study group should be doing.”
“We absolutely loved it! Thanks so much. The feedback from the artists was great, everyone got a lot from it and Paul was absolutely brilliant!”
“We really enjoyed the tour. It was incredibly real and well-informed, told with skill and passion. Two and a half hours flew by. Mark had such a way with the students that gave them the confidence to ask questions and engage in the tour and that was brilliant.”
“Our guide was absolutely amazing. His passion and enthusiasm overflowed. We were so captivated that we loved every minute. He was so knowledgeable and completely unbiased.”
We focus on walking tours to allow our guests to immerse themselves and fully experience the city, giving them time to soak up the atmosphere rather than looking out the window of a bus, and also to allow them to become fully active participants, with better access to and engagement with their guide.
However, we appreciate a walking tour can limit the amount a group can see on a tour, so we are always happy to create a unique or bespoke experience for our groups. This can range from providing a step-on guide for a special interest coach tour to arranging guest speakers and special interest meetings.
Not only can we provide lectures and workshops, but we can also facilitate talks and tours with a wide range of participants in the conflict from across the spectrum; community representatives, ex-combatants from both communities, ex-security forces (RUC) and politicians.
Want to do the tour but can't travel right now?
We can also offer an Online Experience & Virtual Tour for groups studying the history of the conflict in Northern Ireland but who may not be travelling in the near future.
‘The History of the Troubles’ – is our live Online Experience. Hosted as a Zoom webinar it is a 2 hour session made up of two parts;
- One hour AV presentation talk delivered by Paul Donnelly explaining how and why the conflict begins, the realities of life during this period, how peace was achieved and our future challenges.
- One hour Q&A and discussion between Paul and the group. The Q&A is fully interactive, the students can ask any question they wish, to discover more about our history, politics, culture and our own personal life experiences.
We can tailor the Experience to focus on any specific areas of study, and indeed tailor the length and format to suit individual schedules and budgets, – splitting it across a number of sessions for example. It can be delivered at any time and date.
If you would like to take any of our three signature study tours, or would like us to put together a bespoke tour tailored specifically to your requirements and interests, please get in touch. If you want a bespoke tour, just let us know your preferred date, start time, tour duration and your group size and any ideas you’d like us to include – we will get back to you with a custom-designed tour proposal and a price.
